Months after the release of Kingdom, feelers emerge that its sequel won't be happening at all. Kingdom 2 is as good as shelved.
In a recent interview, producer S Naga Vamsi suggested that the sequel is not happening. Sithara Entertainments will collaborate with director Gowtam Tinnanuri on a different movie.
During the post-production phase of Kingdom, Naga Vamsi and producer China Babu (S Radhakrishna) developed creative differences with Tinnanuri. They wanted Vijay Deverakonda's character to prevent the murder of his brother (Satyadev Kancharana's character) when he was in the romantic embrace of Bhagyashri Borse's heroine character. The director didn't agree with their creative input. He also didn't want Vijay's character to be drugged by the heroine at the very least.
Kingdom had music by Anirudh Ravichander. It incurred losses in some territories and was not a clean hit.
