After Dude, Suriya46 is going to prove that actress Mamitha Baiju is chill about complex roles. In the untitled movie, director Venky Atluri has cast her as a 20-year-old young woman who develops a platonic relationship with a 45-year-old man, essayed by actor Suriya. Will this relationship acquire romantic impulses? What happens if it does? Why can't it? That's the central concept of the movie.
In this year's Tamil blockbuster Dude, Mamitha Baiju was seen as a young woman who has to beseech her long-time friend to be her temporary husband to protect herself from honour killing. What makes this relationship complicated is that she does this when she is totally in love with someone else and the long-time friend, in the recent past, rejected her love proposal. This was a gutsy role that Mamitha didn't bother to play. Suriya46 has been made for a more mainstream family audience. That way, it's not that risky a role.
Mamitha Baiju, who was catapulted to fame by Premalu in 2024, will be seen in Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan on 9 January 2026.
