Pledge to Donate Eyes by 'Littleways Foundation'

1.There are approximately 35 million people in the world are waiting for corneal transplantion.
2. Approximately 11 lakh blind population of our country are waiting for corneal transplantation 3.approximately 25000 new cases are being reported every year.
3. Eyes should be donated with in 6-8 hours after the death.
4.anyone can be a donor irrespective of age ,sex, blood group
5.no religion is against eye donation
6.after pledging please inform your family about your wish to donate eyes ,so that they can fulfill your wish.
7.total procedure of Eye Donation takes 15-20 min ,there will be no disfigurement of the face of the donor.
8.Nobody is charged for making eye donation. The only cost to encounter is one local telephone call. 9.family members or relatives can donate the eyes of the deceased even if the deceased had not pledged for eye donation during his/her life time.
10 If some one who is around you passed away may be your neighbor ,relative please educate their family members to make eye donation .

Steps to take care for donation of the eyes
1.Call the nearest eye bank within SIX HOURS of the death of the person. 2.Switch off fans & keep AC on, if you have one.
3.Close the eye lids gently and keep a moist cloth over eyes. •4.Raise head with a pillow.

About 80 lakh people die every year in India and the corneal need for transplantation is 2lakh and only 40thousand people donated their eyes in the year 2010, why is it so it made us to think to take up this noble cause.
